National seminar deals on sports injury

Injuries in sports arena has become a concern world over. A National seminar on `Role of physical education in injury prevention and control` was organised by Government College of Physical Education (GCPE) to deliberate on the problem at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar today. Over 200 delegates from different states joined the day-long event, which featured discussion on prevention and control of sports injuries through safety awareness, nutrition, physiotherapy massage, use of protective gear and rehabilitation. Former Higher Education Director Prof Dhiren Kumar Samantaray, Sports Department Additional Secretary R B Patnaik, Sports Director N P Das, Laxmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE) Registrar Prof L N Sarkar, GCPE Principal S K Mishra and organising secretary M M Rout spoke on causes of injuries and ways to deal with the problem. Resource persons Dr P C Deo, Dr Prem Ranjan Ojha, Dr Yogamaya Panda, Dr Kirti Prasad Das, Dr Shyam Sundar Rath, Dr Gananath Mohanty, Dr Dhaneswar Palei, Dr Sasmita Tripathy and Ashok Kumar Mohanty presented their research papers on the topic.
